Purpose
Mission H.A.N.K.S. (Honor All Next of Kin & Survivors) is an ongoing effort led by the Michael Wayne Hanks Legacy Foundation in partnership with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines Association. Named in honor of Lance Corporal Michael Wayne Hanks, who was killed in action in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004, this registry helps us maintain contact with the families and loved ones of our fallen Marines and Corpsmen. Through it, we share reunion and memorial event information, resources, and points of connection. It also helps us support one another and preserve the history and legacy of those who served in 3/1.
Who should register
Parents, siblings, spouses, adult children, and other next of kin of Marines or Corpsmen from 3/1 who were:
- Killed in action
- Died during active duty service
- Lost their life to causes directly related to their service, including illness or suicide
Voluntary participation and privacy
- Registration is voluntary.
- Information is used only for communication within the 3/1 community, including relevant updates, invitations, and support resources.
- Personal details are never sold or shared publicly.
